KTouch is part of the KDE-EDU package and is included in most linux distributions that include KDE. You only need to install the kdeedu package and KTouch should be in it.
If you want to get the KDE EDU package via subversion, go to the KDE Edutainment page and follow the download/installations instructions. A short summary about how to optain KTouch via subversion is given in the following sections.

Before you try to compilate KTouch check if you meet the following requirements:
- QT 3.x or newer and KDE 3.3 or newer
- KDE and QT devel packages
- libkdeedu/kdeeduplot library (see below)
Assuming you have a working KDE development environment installed (usually installing the QT and KDE devel packages of your distribution should be enough) you first need to compile and install the kdeeduplot library. Download the archive (below) and follow the compilation instructions in the archive. Usually this is as simple as:
and as admin
If you have problems (missing dependencies, configuration errors etc.) send a mail to me: Andreas DOT nicolai AT gmx DOT net.
The most up-to-date version of KTouch can be found on the KDE subversion in the trunk. This version is the current development version and my still contain some bugs. But of course only the newest version has the most and best features :-)
Before you checkout the KDE subversion modules make sure, that you can compile KDE 3 applications on your computer. The requirements for compiling KDE (and its programs) are listet on the Compiling KDE SVN page. Most of all you need to install the subversion client svn to actually obtain the sources.
You need to checkout the complete KDE-EDU module, even if you only want to compile KTouch, so a good internet connection is recommanded. To checkout the KDE-EDU module simply create a directory for the sourcecode somewhere, enter this directory and type on the shell:
or if you have a KDE subversion account
After the checkout is complete you need to perform a couple of steps. First enter the kdeedu directory and type

Since you only want to compile and install KTouch you just need to compile the kdeeduplot and then KTouch itself:
And if everything went ok, you should have the newest KTouch version installed on your computer (you may require administrator rights for installing kdeeduplot and ktouch). If you have problems with compiling KTouch don't hesitate to mail me (see above) and maybe I can help out.
On the source forge project page, in the file releases section you can find all new releases, patches etc. For convenience and historical reasons, the following table all previous releases of KTouch (which might not all compile anylonger). The newest (current) should work most of the time.
Use
to build libkdeedu and KTouch and install it.

Hi there! We are happy to announce a new update for our pro video cue playback app Mitti: version 1.3.
Spring finally came, (although only theoretically yet) - so what would be the better time for getting some long awaited improvements, new features as well as bug fixes, right?
What's new
Improved rendering performance
Mitti's rendering engine has been improved greatly, so result video playback is more fluid, especially with 4K videos and multi-display environments - but the Blackmagic- and NDI outputs has been greatly enhanced as well.
Overall CPU and memory usage has been optimised as well, especially with ProRes 422 movies.
Audio file support
Although Mitti is a video playout software, operators frequently asked to play out audio files too, like intro musics - and now Mitti has Audio Cues!
Audio Cues works and can be created just like Video and Still Images Cues, except you can not apply Video Effects on them.
The following formats are supported:
- wav
- aif
- mp3
- m4a
- flac (on macOS 10.13 and higher)
SDI Playout
Mitti's Blackmagic Output now supports the device's built-in keyer if present, so with the appropriate hardware you can play out graphics and overlays including an alpha channel (called key and fill signals), or superimpose the graphics over the incoming signal.
With multi channel output gear like the Ultrastudio 4K or Decklink Quad that have built-in keyer, you can set the Keying: mode to External in Mitti's Blackmagic Output Preferences to send two signals on two SDI outputs: one for fill, one for key. Servus 1 3.
With Keying: mode set to Internal the appropriate Blackmagic output gear like the Ultrastudio 4K will superimpose the graphics over the incoming signal.
New OSC/UDP commands
/mitti/locate
: Locates to the timecode or seconds specified in the parameter./mitti/jumpToCueWithName
: Jumps to the first Cue with the same name as in the parameter./mitti/rewind
: Rewinds the Current Cue./mitti/{cuenumber}/select
: Selects the Cue.
Fullscreen indicator
Now there is a Toggle Fullscreen Output button on the bottom-left corner, which also indicates the state of the output.
Edit Cue Title
The Edit Cue Title.. command now also available from the Cue menu, and it has a keyboard shortcut:
CMD
+T
An other little but handy improvement around this is the text field will be already on focus when you call this action and the Cue Preferences window will automatically close on hitting Enter.
